Our goal for the Hilo Skate Plaza is to have a minimum of 25,000 square feet of skatable concrete, a covered roller rink for hockey, roller derby and other roller sports, lights, restroom facilities, parking lot, and family recreation space which would include (but is not limited to) a pavilion, BBQ area and possible Keiki playground.
Our organization is working closely with the Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation to find and dedicate an appropriately sized piece of land. A lot located within the Ho'olulu Sports Complex is being seriously considered by both parties. The Hilo Skate Plaza Coalition is eagerly awaiting approval and commitment of this land by the County of Hawaii Department of Parks and Recreation.
